We’re delighted to announce that tickets are now on sale for the inaugural CenTax Residential Conference.  

The ‘Closing the Tax Gap’ conference will take place 23–24 April 2026 at the University of Warwick. Our multidisciplinary event will bring together tax professionals, think tanks, the civil service and academia for two days of discussion on the tax gap in the UK.   

In 2020, the Wealth Tax Commission brought together world-leading academics, policymakers and tax practitioners to ‘think big’ about tax policy. Published in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the public finance crisis it triggered, the Commission examined the viability of both annual and one-off wealth taxes. Comprising over thirty papers and half a million words, it remains the most comprehensive body of evidence on wealth taxation globally.

On Monday, CenTax Director Andy Summers gave evidence at the House of Lords Finance Bill Sub-Committee.

On Wednesday, CenTax launched ‘Tax Reforms for Growth’ in Parliament along with authors from across the political spectrum.

The report provides a set of seven packages that would move the UK towards a fairer, more effective and more pro-growth tax system. This is a framework for the direction of reform, not a precise blueprint.

Professor Arun Advani gave evidence at the Treasury Select Committee on Tuesday, arguing that the Chancellor can both raise revenue and boost growth at the upcoming Autumn Budget.
